Hunting With Adventure Northwest
Embark on the Muskox Hunting Adventure of a Lifetime
Imagine yourself standing amidst the vast, untouched wilderness of the Arctic, the crisp air carrying the faint sound of crunching snow as a herd of muskox grazes nearby. These majestic creatures, standing 4-5 feet tall at the shoulder and weighing up to 800 pounds, are living relics of the Ice Age.
Their long, shaggy coats ripple in the frigid breeze, perfectly adapted to withstand the brutal -100°F wind chills. With sharp, powerful horns capable of breaking through thick ice, muskoxen are not only symbols of survival but also incredible trophies for any dedicated hunter.
Hunting in the pristine Arctic is more than a pursuit; it’s a journey into a land where time stands still. In Ulukhaktok, a welcoming Inuit community steeped in tradition, your hunt will be elevated by the vibrant local culture. Participate in authentic drum dances, fish for Arctic char, or marvel at the sheer size of northern hares as you immerse yourself in an environment few have the privilege to experience.
The Hunt: Thrills and Abundance
Our muskox hunts boast a 100% success rate, ensuring your Arctic adventure will be one for the books. Your choice of weapon—whether it’s a recurve bow, muzzleloader, or modern rifle—is suited for this exhilarating experience. With game in abundance, you’ll have the luxury of deciding whether to continue hunting or retreat to the comforts of camp, savoring the moments of your extraordinary expedition.
Spring Hunts (March-April)
In spring, you’ll traverse the Arctic landscape on a sled pulled by a snowmobile. The days are long, and the temperatures are surprisingly comfortable, allowing you to spot and pursue numerous muskoxen. The combination of mobility and breathtaking views ensures an unforgettable hunt.
Fall Hunts (September)
In the fall, prepare for an inland adventure by ATV or a coastal expedition by boat. The rugged terrain requires physical and mental fortitude, but the rewards—a chance to witness the muskox in its element—are worth every effort.
Accommodations and Arctic Hospitality
The cabins, owned by Ulukhaktok locals, are simple yet cozy, heated by oil or Coleman stoves to provide a warm refuge after a day in the Arctic. Meals are hearty and plentiful, giving you the energy needed for the demands of the hunt. While conditions can be challenging, the community’s hospitality ensures you’ll feel right at home.
